A Pepino?

When I go to mum's place to spend a night there, I always find the fruit bowl full of extra bananas and a big papaya - my favourites. Mum knows how to make me smile :) Treats me well.

But this time round I had a surprise waiting for me - a PEPINO. I had never seen nor heard about this fruit. A cross between a mango (it's only slightly bigger) and a rockmelon (with a similar flavour), it tastes deliciously light and fresh. Paper thin skin, soft juicy flesh, I enjoyed it out on the back deck in the sun.




It gave me a TASTE of what's to come when SUMMER creeps up on us with all the AMAZING fruits it brings with it :)
